IP Document Specialists

Technical Fields

Emory delivers unmatched services in providing its clients with Korean, English and Japanese patent translations in the following scientific and engineering disciplines: semiconductors, LCDs, telecommunications, digital multimedia, mechanics, chemistry, industrial chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology and pharmacology, in addition to various cross-disciplines.

Veteran Expertise

The company provides unparalleled-quality patent translations in the nation due to its highly capable and experienced translators who are selectively recruited from renowned patent law firms in Seoul in their respective fields of art.  Emory translators have "veteran expertise" in handling incoming and outgoing cases, which enables the company to position itself into a level of its own in terms of providing logically and technically coherent Korean translations of English priority applications (including PCT National-Phase Entry applications) to be filed with the Korean Intellectual Property Office, and English translations of first-filed Korean patent applications to be subsequently filed in overseas.

Services

While Emory provides various other IP related translations, its primary line of business is in translating patent specifications to be internationally filed claiming convention priority.  English translations of Korean and Japanese abstracts, office actions, claims and application particulars (patents and trademarks) are only provided to its existing clients at minimum fee.  Drawings accompanying English specifications to be translated into Korean or Japanese can be localized provided that the original drawings are in an electronic format.  The company also provides English translations of Japanese patent specifications to be filed in overseas to its Japanese clients at a quality that far exceeds Japanese translation companies.

Artisans

Although a formal training is not provided to Emory ¡°artisans¡± since they are already well-versed in their technical disciplines, they are constantly engaged in discussions and forums on ways to convey Chinese-based Korean and Japanese characters into their more logical and somewhat limiting Latin-based English equivalents, and vise versa.  The task of translating patent specifications demands a sharp-technical mind in addition to an indispensable awareness in legal implications of patent laws with respect to examining procedures and potential infringement litigations.  Thus, it is an important and yet difficult task that requires a vast amount experience in dealing with various formats and styles conventional to English, Korean and Japanese specifications, in addition to being versed in the relevant arts and patent laws.

Translator Comments

Any amendments/changes required to conform to Korean patent practice and/or necessitated by inconsistencies and technical errors in English specifications will be suggested through detailed comments to be reviewed by you and your agent in Korea, which our clients find invaluable in addition to the cost-effective translation solution Emory provides.
